Dr. H. John Shammas

Dr. H. John Shammas is a board certified ophthalmologist and clinical professor of Ophthalmology at the Keck School of Medicine of University of Southern California. Dr. Shammas is also the Owner and Medical Director of the Shammas Eye Medical Center and M/S Surgery Center, which he founded in 1982. The offices are located in Lynwood, Downey and Whittier, California.

Dr. Shammas is a member and regular lecturer at the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the American and International Societies of Ophthalmic Ultrasound and the Outpatient Ophthalmic Society. He has authored over 120 original articles published in various medical literature journals, and six books considered the leading textbooks on their subject. After completing his medical training at the University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa, Dr. Shammas moved to Los Angeles with his family where he still resides and has been a California resident since 1977. Dr. Shammas is Co-Founder and Past Chairman of the Lebanese American Foundation, and is involved in multiple charitable and educational organizations.
