Dr. James Bredenkamp

Director

Dr. James Bredenkamp is a lifelong native of Southern California. He attended the University of California, Irvine, where he received a degree in Biology, after which he attended Cal (University of California, San Francisco) for medical school. After graduating, Dr. Bredenkamp completed a six-year residency in surgery at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) specializing in Head and Neck Surgery and Otolaryngology. While at UCLA, he also spent a year in basic science research in the investigation of the immunology of cancer. 

Dr. Bredenkamp is board certified in Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He has authored over 20 scientific papers and has contributed five book chapters. He has five surgical equipment patents, and has served on several public medical advisory boards.

Dr. Bredenkamp is a senior partner and past managing partner of Head and Neck Associates of Orange County, one of the largest single specialty groups in the country. He has served as Chief of Surgery at Mission Hospital, Chief of Surgery at Children’s Hospital at Mission, Chief of Head and Neck Surgery at Mission Hospital, Saddleback Hospital, Children’s Hospital, and as Medical Director of Mission Surgery Center. 

Dr. Bredenkamp is on the Board of Directors of the Leonard Cancer Institute at Mission, and the Board of Directors of the Mission Hospital Foundation. He has been named as “Best Doctors” in his specialty by Consumers’ Guide to Top Doctors, Orange County Medical Society, Orange Coast Magazine, and US News and World Report. His professional interest is in Head and Neck Surgical Oncology and Reconstruction, and Endocrine surgery.
